Best friends

On our Hattiesburg visit we had time to visit with Adam's best friend whom he grew up with Jonathan, his wife Jessi and their son Jude. Jude is about 2 months older than C. It has been fun getting them together. This time they almost played together, at least played around each other. We can't wait to see these boys grow up together.

16 months

I am way behind on this post but wanted to get it up before it is time for 17 months! I am using these posts as reminders of what C was up to at this age ( sorry they are so detailed, it is really to help me remember).

16 months
This has been a fun month of watching you grow and learn Cameron.

You are such a fun little fella with a precious smile and laugh.

At 16 months:
You continue to increase your vocabulary. You now also say ball, bowl, bubba, book, done, milk, more, Pat-Pat, Wo-Wo (for Lo-Lo), Bert, yum, walk-walk, rock-rock, bath You try to repeat lots of other words we say but usually only say it one time. Sometimes you will say a word and daddy and I look at each other like did he just say that.

Climbed up on your bookshelf
You have learned a few more animal sounds this month. You know the animal sounds for cow (moo), duck (bak, bak), girafe (ha, ha), cat (meow), dog (uf, uf), monkey (ooo with hand motions), horse (neigh with head motions), elephant (aoh with arm motions), butterfly (you say fly fly and close your hand), bird (tweet tweet), alligator (chomp chomp with hand motions), lion, tiger, bear (roar), frog (ra, ra), bunny (hop, hop), owl (who, who)

You LOVE Sesame Street videos especially anything with Elmo. You wake up saying MO. You can also name Telly, Bert, Big Bird ( Bi Bir), and make the sounds of Oscar, Grover, Cookie Monster and Ernie. It is so fun to watch you read your Sesame Street  books because you do the sounds and name characters. You are mesmerized by the videos and books.

You also love your doggy Albe. You call him bubba and will squeal with delight and say Bubba Bubba Bubba over and over. He is very patient with you and lets you pull and tug on him. He lays his head in your lap. You were starting to be a little rough with him so we taught you to pat him and would say pat-pat. Now you pet him and say pat-pat. You follow him around trying to give him his bones. You are very generous, you even try to give him your puzzle pieces.

Spaghetti beard
You are getting much closer to walking. You are cruising all around the furniture back and forth from the ottoman to the couch, down the chair to the end table and then over to the book shelf. I think you are close to realizing that you could get there faster if you walked. You have taken about 2 or 3 steps from daddy to me but haven't done it consistently so we aren't claiming you are walking yet. You love to hold our hands and walk. We just say you want to walk-walk and you reach up for our hands. With more mobility has come some yucky bruises on  your face (boo).

Trying out new shoes
You have the funniest crawl. You look like a gorilla because you push off with one of your legs. 98% of the time you crawl with something in one hand and push off with the other hand. You carry everything from books to blocks, puzzle pieces and stuffed toys. You get really frustrated when you want to carry something in both hands but can't figure out how to get where you want to go. Sometimes you will even crawl with something in your mouth if you can't figure out another way. I think walking will open up a whole new world to you.

You love putting the lid on your bowls and sippy cups. You will sit and take it off and put it back on over and over. You have very good fine motor skills. You like to put the lid on my water bottles or anything with a small cap you will work until you get it put back on. You like playing in the pantry taking things out and then putting them back in. It really is fun to watch you figure things out and see how your little mind is working.

You and I spent a few days in Hattiesburg while Daddy taught his classes. You had fun with the grandparents but we missed Daddy.

You had an ENT visit this month to talk about some breathing problems you were having at night. We started a nose spray that has helped and took you off milk for a few weeks (we put you on soy). You are back on milk and seem to be tolerating it fine.

I have LOVED being home with you this summer and am so sad we have to start back to school. You are such a precious gift sweet boy and daddy and I pray everyday that the Lord blesses and keeps you and may his face shine upon you!!
