Thanksgiving recap
Adam, Albe and I headed to the 'burg for Thanksgiving. Jeremy, Amy and Jackson were already there so we were looking forward to spending some quality time with little man. He definitely kept us entertained. He liked walking around in Uncle Ben's boots, with his holster on. Notice that he has tools in the holster. He hasn't gotten any guns yet. But uses everything as a gun.
My favorite thing is that he asks my permission before doing bodily harm to Adam. Our conversations usually go like this...
Jackson: Mimi, can I drop an elbow bomb on Uncle Adam?
Mimi (me): Why sure sweetie, you can definitely drop an elbow bomb on Uncle Adam?
Jackson (1 minute later after a successful elbow bomb): Mimi can I do a pile driver on Uncle Adam?
Mimi: Yep, you can!
Jackson (30 seconds later): Mimi, Can I pull Uncle Adam's foot off?
Mimi: Laughing hysterically, well I don't know if he could walk without a foot.
I'm telling you this kid cracks me up. LOVE HIM!!! He keeps us entertained!!!
Jackson and Adam ate their cereal together one morning and I thought it was precious!!! So I thought I would share it with you. Two of my favorite fellas, I was just missing Dad in the picture!

Weekend Recap
As I posted last, Hotel Knight was open for business and we were filled to capacity. We had a great time with everyone here. We had beautiful weather so thankfully we got to enjoy the wonderful space that we also have outside.
The first thing Jackson wanted to do when he got here was for Uncle Adam to ride him on the lawn mower. We told him he had to wait until the morning, but he was thrilled when he got his turn around the yard!!

We took a walk down to the lake in our neighborhood. I love how beautiful everything is with the changing of the leaves.
Albe led the way! He said, "Come on guys, I know where we are going."

Beautiful View!!!
Once we got there Jackson found lots to play with.

"Let's see if I can fish with this thing."

Ben and Lacey (and Keelo too) joined us at the lake.

We had a WONDERFUL weekend. Albe says. Come back to our house anytime!!

Knight Hotel
The Knight Hotel is open for business. This weekend we had a great visit with Adam's best friend Jonathon and his wife Jessi. She took the wonderful pictures you now see on our header. She is so talented. If you are in Hattiesburg and want Christmas pictures, I highly recommend her. Last weekend we had Adam's parents and sweet sister Lisa come to visit. This coming weekend, Hotel Knight will be hosting my parents, brother Ben and his girlfriend and my older brother Jeremy, his wife Amy and my sweet nephew Jackson (and his imaginary friend Allison) and partridge in a pair tree!! We are looking forward to it!!
Have a great week!

More House Pics
Our wonderful realtor Stephanie (if you live in Starkville, I HIGHLY recommend her!!! Let me get you her number) suggested that I do some before and after pics of our house. It is a bit of a contrast from the previous owners. They kept it a bit messy which really hid the houses true potential. We are loving being home owners.
This is our bathroom BEFORE!!!!!

This is our master bathroom AFTER my dad painted!! We are thrilled to have a master bath again!!

This is our master bedroom before we painted with the previous owner's furniture still in it.

We love our new couch. Super comfy.

Happy Birthday Dad!!!
Today is a very special man in my life's birthday... my dad!!! There is really no adequate way to explain how much I love my wonderful dad just as there are no words to describe how incredibly goofy and funny he is. He is called "funny man" by kids in our family, you never know if he is being serious or joking, but no matter what I know that I am his baby girl! He is the best Papa to our sweet nephew Jackson and we can't wait to see him with our kids one day. Happy Birthday Dad!! I will never forget standing with my dad in the back of the church on our wedding day. What a special time!! We love you and are looking forward to another great year ( try not to freak us out this year with the heart attack)

Pics of the new house
We have been getting many request for pictures of the house. I have a few to share today, but only because these rooms (master bedroom/bath & kitchen) are unpacked. The rest of the house is a work in progress. We are LOVING the new house and already feel like we have lived here forever.

So here is a sneak peak.

The Life of Albe
I know you are probably tired of hearing me talk about Albe, but I'm sorry, he keeps us entertained. Remember when I posted about Albe serious dislike for rain here. Well I have been looking for a little rain jacket for the fella to try and lessen the trauma he experiences everytime it rains (which seems to be a lot here lately). I lucked up at Tuesday Morning with a $5 find. The only problem was it was a little big. Albe loved it and we got a GREAT laugh, but the size made it not quite functional for the wet weather. He looked like a ghost. So cute.

Albe's wardrobe expanded again when I felt like he needed a sweater or shirt to keep him warm. In our new house we are leaving him in the rec room during the day and it gets pretty drafty. So I went to Tuesday Morning (remember shopping it limited here in Starkville) in search of a doggie sweater. The only thing they had was a Harley Davidson T-Shirt. Isn't he to cute!!!!

That's the last addition to his wardrobe. We are looking for a fun halloween costume we were inspired by a fellow blogger to get him a costume. Suggestions are welcome! Have a great day!!

We are home owners!!
Well blogging friends I have been withholding information from you. I guess we wanted to wait until everything was OFFICIAL! But as of about 4 pm this afternoon it is, Adam and I are HOMEOWNERS!!!! We are sooo excited. What a process! I don't have pics to share with you yet, but promise they will come soon along with more details, but couldn't keep this information to ourselves any longer.
Before I go... a bit ironic... our new address is Cardinal Lane. For those who read our blog much you will catch the connection to Adam's love (PASSION/OBSESSION) with the St. Louis Cardinals! It was meant to be!!

Its Her Birthday!!!
They say its her birthday..... Happy Happy Birthday!!!!
Happy Birthday to our wonderful sister Lisa.
I know we are a little on the cheesy side, but what can I say.

As Lisa enters her 24th year, Adam and I pray the Lord's richest blessings on her. This is an especially exciting year for Lisa as she will becoming Mrs. Patrick Lowery in just a few short months. We are thrilled. Happy Birthday sister!

An open apology

Since Amy has taken a break from blogging, you're stuck with me for another post. I'm writing this as an apology to Brett Favre, possibly the greatest football player ever. I've been a Brett Favre fan ever since I first saw him play when he was a freshman at Southern Miss and I was a six year old going to the games with my parents. I remember his senior season when he came back from a serious car accident (and had much of his intestines removed) and led the Eagles to a victory over Alabama. I became a big Packers fan after the Falcons traded him there. I remember watching him in the Super Bowl, and wanting desperately to go watch him play in Green Bay. Well, I'm sure you know what happened last summer. Brett retired, then decided he wanted to come back, but the Packers didn't want him back, so he got traded to the Jets. So, I became a Jets fan, and finally got to see him play as a professional when my Dad and I went to Nashville to watch him shred the previously undefeated Titans. The Jets season went downhill after this, and Favre looked like he was at the end of the line. He retired again, said he wasn't going to the Vikings, but ended up reporting about 3 weeks before the season. I'd decided I had enough of Favre's never ending retirement saga, and promised I wouldn't follow him or the Vikings this year. I really didn't think Favre had anything left. Boy, was I wrong. I watched him absolutely destroy the Packers (definitely not a fan of them anymore) on Monday night, and I have to say, I'm back on the bandwagon. I just can't stay away any longer. Favre has always been and will always be my favorite football player. Hopefully he can continue to play well and get back to the Super Bowl. Go Brett and go Vikings!!!

Upset
People that know anything about me know that I have an obsession with sports, specifically the St. Louis Cardinals, Southern Miss, and Auburn athletics. I spent three years working as a student athletic trainer at Southern Miss and three years as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Auburn. I still follow both programs regularly. Amy and I have tickets to Southern Miss home games, and try to go to at least one Auburn game a year. Well, what happened last night to Southern Miss really made me mad. In case you don't know, they lost a football game to UAB, 30-17. Now, UAB is a good university with a wonderful medical school. But they are not a football powerhouse. Never have been, never will be. They've only been playing football for about 15 years. Southern Miss had never lost to UAB in 9 previous games, and beat them 70-14 last season. I tend to overreact whenever one of the above mentioned teams lose (ask Amy), so I remained relatively calm last night. But I just can't get over the fact that we lost to UAB. That just should not happen. I know that it was a "trap" game, and probably the biggest game on UAB's schedule. But good teams are able to overcome this and still win. I'm not sure what will happen with the rest of the season, but playing like USM did last night just won't get it done. Hopefully the coaches and players will regroup and come out strong next week against Louisville. And, I have to give some credit to UAB. They were trounced by Texas A&M on Saturday and were able to bounce back.On a more positive note, the baseball playoffs start next week, and the Cardinals are back in it. Hopefully they can recreate the magic of 2006 and go all the way. They definitely have the pitching, but I'm not sure about the hitting. Auburn is 4-0, and plays at Tennessee this weekend. Five years ago, when I was working at Auburn, we went into Neyland stadium and beat the Vols 34-10. That is one of my top 5 favorite games from being a football athletic trainer. I have never heard 100,000 plus people as quiet as they were that night. Hopefully Auburn can keep rolling and move to 5-0.

A nerd for sure!!
Ok, I am claiming it here. I AM A NERD. But I am so excited about my $1.00 purchase today at Dollar General.
I have started keeping up with coupons and have been looking for this particular type of organizer to keep the coupons organized in a systematic fashion. I hadn't been able to find exactly what I wanted, until today!! Wahoo. I know. Nerd alert.
For those of you who are also coupon clippers some of my favorite sites are:
www.coupons.com
http://freebies4mom.blogspot.com/ ( I know I am not a mom :)

Let me know of any other sites you have found for coupons, I have a whole organizer to fill!

Weekend in the 'Burg
Adam, Albe and I headed to Hattiesburg this weekend to see the family and watch Southern Miss beat Virginia in a very exciting game. We were oh so excited that Jeremy and Jackson were in town for the weekend as well (we missed you Amy). Jackson is such a smart little fella! He LOVES his "Uncle" Adam and had fun playing with Albe. He learned how to tell Albe to sit and then would throw the ball for him. It cracked us all up. These are some pictures from the ballgame.
Jackson with his Papa. His BFF. Note his hat. He likes to wear it that way! To cute.
Our attempt at a picture. He wasn't in the mood.
Pure sweetness.Adam wasn't so much ready for this picture, but isn't Jackson precious!!

I also have to say that we are very proud of Adam's sister Lori. She has been drum major at Southern Miss for 3 years now. The Pride does a great job under Lori's leadership. We are proud of you Lo.

Update on Albe
Well we are in shock and awe! Just absolutely amazed. Last I wrote, Albe was giving us fits at night with his sleeping, or lack there of. So we moved him to the office and his old kennel. The first night he did GREAT!!!! Didn't hear a peep. The next night we said, "ready to go to bed." I kid you not the dog, RAN to his bed. Adam and I about died, right there in our house. What in the world! Is this our dog who was having trouble sleeping just 2 nights earlier. The next night I was laying on the bed a little before bedtime, Albe jumps off and I hear him head down the hall. Where did he go you ask? To his bed. No coaxing or anything. He loves it and has gone to it on his own every night whenever he is ready to go to bed. So this is a picture of what is his new favorite bed!Who knew that something smaller and more compact could make the fella so happy!

Doggy Days and Nights
Greetings friends. I'm writing a little more tired today than usual. You see our sweet little dog Albert (that's what he gets called when he's misbehaving) has decided that he doesn't like to sleep in his crate anymore. The past 2 nights Adam and I have have woken up in the wee hours to a faint whining coming from his kennel. And I mean WEE hours. 12:30 last night. So we take him outside first (or Adam takes him out) but that doesn't quiet him down. Adam says, just ignore him, but I fear something is wrong with him. I was forgetting this was the 2nd night that our precious slumber had been interrupted by the whines of this precious pup. So instead of watching the inside of my eyelids, I watch the clock and sit up every now and then and sternly instruct Albe to be quiet and go to sleep. It didn't work! At 2 am, I finally got up and "checked on him", meaning I opened his kennel. What do you think he wanted? To get in the bed with us of course. We have had Albert for 8 months now and he has slept great in his bed in the kennel EVERY night. So what is happening here. Any suggestions you dog lovers on how to get our pup to sleep through the night? Tonight he will be getting his own bedroom. He is getting moved out of our room. I just hope that doesn't make him whine louder.
So now I am propping my head up getting ready to teach 2 classes this afternoon as our sweet dog is sound asleep on the BED this afternoon! That stinker!

New Semester
Its a new semester and as Adam so sweetly wrote I have transitioned into a new job. The Lord worked in an amazing way opening the doors for this position and I love being back in the classroom. I am building my stamina back up and my vocal cords. Its going to be a great semester. We are claiming it!
"Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day, teach a man to fish and he will eat for the rest of his life."
