16 weeks

Cameron is now 16 weeks and 2 days old. It is hard to believe. He just keeps on growing, and growing, and growing. The first picture is from Tuesday, and the second is from around his one week birthday. He is now as big as the bear. It is hard to believe how fast he has grown. As you can see below, he has not missed any meals!!

I hope that everyone had a great 4th of July holiday. It is fun to share these times with Cameron and explain to him the meaning of this day, even though I am not sure he was really paying attention to me. We had a good time cooking out and Cameron was very patriotic looking thanks to his G-ma!! He will also be 15 weeks old tomorrow, and he is such a fun boy to play with. He really interacts well with us, his toys, and he loves to kick. He has also started to roll over almost anytime he is placed on his stomach. He is growing up so fast!! Enjoy the pictures.

3 months

Our sweet Cameron is three months old today. WOW!!!That's all I can say, WOW. Time is flying by. I love seeing the changes that are happening daily in C's personality and looks but am sad that we will never get him this small again. Our boy is growing like a weed. We guesstimate his weight to be over 13 lbs. It is just amazing to see how much he has grown. (eating every 2 hours will do that)
So here are a few things to remember about this time in his life:
- You are in constant motion. Always kicking and moving your arms. Really the only time the child stops moving is when he is sleeping.
- Sleep- You fight sleep SOO much. I mean screaming fits, tears flowing all with your eyes closed. You are sleeping MUCH better at night and in your bed. You get up a few times to eat but go back to sleep very easily (unlike during the day). You WILL NOT nap outside of someone's arms. As soon as you are put down you wake up. This is our next project.

-Within the past week or so you have really found your voice. You will talk for 20-30 minutes straight. We have lots of conversations where you answer me in your own way. Sometimes you wake up and we let you lay in your bed and talk for a while. I wish I knew what you were saying. We think you are probably talking about how much you love us! :)
-You still love to eat. We nurse every 2- 2 1/2 hours.
- You have also started laughing and smiling A LOT. You are a happy baby, unless you are hungry or sleepy. We are getting lots of good play time. Your smiles make our heart smile. I think you are gonna be a flirt.
- You are doing very well with your tummy time. You've rolled over from your stomach to your back a few times. Your neck strength is great!!
-You are very observant, maybe why you won't go to sleep. You are always looking around. You rarely lay your head on our shoulder because you are to busy looking around, afraid you might miss something.
-You don't love riding in your carseat, but did a little better on our latest trip to Hattiesburg.
-You are VERY loved. You have two sets of grandparents that are over the moon for you, two sets of great grandparents that adore you, aunts and uncles that love you and so many more.
Cameron Charles, it has been a tiring but unbelievably rewarding three months. Mommy and Daddy can't imagine life without you. You have brought so much joy into so many peoples lives. We can't wait to continue to watch you grow and learn!

12 weeks

It is hard to believe that Cameron is 12 weeks old today. He is growing up so fast and becoming very active and playful. He still is not a big fan of sleeping but has started to sleep some in his own bed at night. Hopefully this will continue to improve. Below are some pictures of him with the family, including pictures from our trip to Hattiesburg a couple of weeks ago.

Cameron really, really loves his Mommy. She has done a great job taking care of him.

This was taken a few days ago, and it may be our favorite picture of him. He loves to just relax in his Bumppo, and really likes his Cardinals outfit.

He likes me most of the time as well.

Mimi, Cameron's Great-Grandmother. Mimi's mother's (my great grandmother who was Granny B to me) maiden name was Cameron. Granny B's father was Charles Cameron. That is where the names Cameron and Charles came from. Charles is also my father's name and my middle name.

Happy Anniversary!

On June 7, 2008, Amy and I were married. It's hard to believe that was 3 years ago. A lot of things have happened since then, including Amy moving to Auburn, me writing a dissertation, Amy having surgery, us moving to Starkville and both starting new jobs (Amy twice), adopting Albe, buying a house, many fun trips, and of course the best of all, the birth of Cameron in March. It's been a great 3 years and I am very fortunate to have such a wonderful wife. I can't wait to see what the future has in store for us!!

2 months

****We thought this posted last week. Since it didn't let me add an update.
We went to the doctor for Cameron's 2 month shots.

He is weighing in at 11 lbs 4.8 oz (50th percentile). We are so proud of his growth. (Birth 4 lbs 15 oz.)
He is 22 1/4 inches long (50th percentile). This is a 4 inch gain.
We have determined C has been in a growth spurt his whole life!

We survived our first road trip. I will try to do a post about that soon.





Our sweet Cameron boy is 2 months old today. I can't believe it. Our time with him has flown by and seemed to stand still. Maybe its because the days and nights run together. A few things about Cameron at 2 months.

Cameron, you love bath time. You are so chill and calm in the bath. Mom and dad look forward to your bath time.


You love playing in your exercise mat. You are reaching for your toys and always kick like a machine.

Your neck is getting really strong and during tummy time you look from side to side. One of the reasons you have such a hard time relaxing enough to go to sleep is because you are looking around like such a big boy. Since you came home, you've had exceptional head control.


We were so excited to see you roll over for the first time this week. You were laying on your tummy and rolled to your back. Daddy and I were shocked but so proud of you. You like to roll on your side and then wind up on your tummy. You prefer to sleep on your stomach but this keeps mommy worried. I keep putting you back on your back but you keep getting on your tummy.

You are not a fan of sleeping. This is not an inherited characteristic, because mommy and daddy love to sleep. Ever since you first came home with us you have fight going to sleep. We are thrilled if you will sleep one hour. Most of your naps are 30-45 mins. The past two nights you have slept for 4 hours. Good job buddy. This helps mommy feel a lot better the next day. When you do sleep, your favorite position is laying across mommy's belly. This is how you laid in mommy's tummy. You are a precious angel when you are sleeping.

You love to eat. You are still nursing every 2 hours. This is a special time for mommy and you! We are anxious to see how big you have gotten at the dr. tomorrow. Our unofficial guess is between 10 1/2 and 11 1/2 lbs. That's a long way from when you weighed 4 lbs 15 oz. We are so proud of our growing boy.

You are a very observant little boy. You love to look around and love looking at the beams on the ceiling and pictures on the wall and you make great eye contact with mommy and daddy? You are starting to watch your doggy, Albe. He is getting use to all of your noises and the attention you get.

You were about 6 weeks when you smiled for us. Your sweet smile warms our hearts. You love to lay on your changing table and kick and smile at us.

We are so excited about seeing you grow and develop.
You are a very loved little boy Cameron. Both sets of grandparents have been to play with you a couple of times. Your great-grandparents, cousins, aunts and uncles have all come to see you. You've been loved on by lots of mommy and daddy's friends too.

Birth Story

**** so i started this post when C was 5 weeks, finishing it at 8 weeks. No time for blogging.
Before to much time passes I wanted to get Cameron's birth story written down. It was an experience Adam and I won't ever forget, but even now 5 weeks out, some of the details are a little fuzzier (thank you lack of sleep) so I want to share it here.

I started having contractions on Friday, March 18. They weren't extremely intense and felt more like period cramps. Adam and I went on a date that night and I remember thinking this would probably be our last date before Cameron arrived. We had just been to the doctor on Thursday and I was only 1 cm dilated so I knew my body had a long way to go before it was ready for Cameron to join us. Now if you remember my sweet Papaw had passed away earlier that week. The funeral was on Saturday so I was hoping that I would wait until at least Saturday afternoon to go into "labor" so my mom could have the closure she needed from the funeral. Saturday came and I continued to have pains that were about every 10-12 minutes apart. Still not strong enough to go to the hospital but they were painful and starting to make my body kind of tired. Sunday came and the pains continued to get stronger. I knew I was heading to the dr. first thing Monday morning. I just knew after 3 days of contractions I would have progressed. No such luck, I was only 1 1/2 cm. I was very discouraged. My dr. stripped my membranes and sent me home in pain, or so I thought. The pain really started about an hour after we got home. Holy moly. Words are not adequate to describe this pain. I had really bad back labor. By the time Adam got back from work they were about 5 min. apart. I decided to get a shower and that's when they got crazy bad and 2-3 mins apart. We decided it was time to go about 9 pm. It was a bit surreal going to the hospital and knowing we were about to meet our son! I just knew after an afternoon of misery that I would be 5 cm. NOT!! I was still 1 1/2. They wanted to watch me for an hour before sending me home. Poor Adam was so concerned with what in the heck he was supposed to do with me at home. He had never seen me in that much pain, I had never been in that much pain. Thankfully we had a compassionate nurse who pushed for me to stay another hour and helped me progress to 3 ( ouch). I got a piece of bliss in an epidural about 12. Hallelujah. My hat goes off to you beasts that do this without an epidural, but I have one question, Why? Anyway back to d day. We had a great nurse who felt like after I got my epidural I would progress quickly. She was right.I was pushing 3 hrs later and C was born at 3:44am. We were expecting a small baby but were all shocked at our tiny 4 lb 15 oz little boy. My heart was so full, seeing the joy reflected in my husband's eyes and seeing a head full of dark hair. My heart was so full hearing his strong cry and holding him for the first time. My heart is still so full to know that the Father has trusted us with this blessing. My heart is full! Welcome to our world Cameron Charles Knight.
